BWG: Ben, Wim & Gerco
History
Brothers Ben, Wim, and Gerco had no interest in running the farm of their father Bernhard and mother Riek. Each followed his own path and made significant strides at an international level in equestrian sports.
In 1998, they returned to their roots and transformed the farm into BWG Stables—a top-tier trading stable. It was Ben who took the first steps toward establishing their own (trading) stable. He had the choice to go it alone or partner with his brothers; Wim and Gerco found it only natural to do this together, and so they did. Over a period of about 18 years, they transformed the farm into a true equestrian complex with all the modern facilities required for training and development at the highest level.
Practical, atmospheric, and spacious—these are the hallmarks of the accommodation. It aligns with the bespoke services they offer and the high standard of welfare they strive for, for both humans and animals. All the knowledge and experience the brothers gained throughout their lives were incorporated into the renovation and design of the complex, complemented by the input and sense of style of their wives. The renovation, which was carried out in phases, was completed in 2016.
In addition to the training sessions held at the complex, it has hosted the international competition Jumping Schröder Twente since 2013. A separate foundation organizes this event, which has been expanded to include a jumping foal auction since 2025.
“We taught ourselves everything. We made mistakes and learned from them. We now apply that knowledge and experience to help talented show jumpers grow.”
About the brothers
Three brothers who weren’t quite interested in their father’s farming life. Working with horses? That was a different story! Because they are active with horses daily—Gerco still competes (for himself or others)—and have built an extensive network, we at BWG Stables are able to make the top level achievable.
